This was a trip I had been planning for quite a while, a trip that I had been looking forward to very much with high hopes of filling up memory cards with hundreds of great images. The research was carefully done and the plans were made and at last it was time to set off. The majority of the trip was spent in and around Donegal, a quite beautiful part of Ireland where the people were wonderfully friendly and have a very laid back and unhurried way of life.

Recently I've been finding a preference for converting my images to black and white, and its probably unsurprising then that most of the shots from this trip that I am happy with are edited in this way. It could of course be that the conditions for most of the weekend didnt make for great landscape images and perhaps the images really do work better as black and whites.

Among the places I visited and photographed were the Dark Hedges, Fanad Head lighthouse, Bunbeg, Dunlewey Church and of course I couldnt go to Ireland and not visit the Giants Causeway. The overall feeling from the trip is that I tried to fit in too much in too short a time and I felt I was in the car more than out with my camera. However it certainly wasnt a wasted journey and if nothing else i can count it as a reconnaissance trip which means I will be more prepared when I return.

A couple from Ireland...
