Whitby and Bamburgh photo weekend

I have just returned from a successful weekend photographing around Whitby and Bamburgh. The Northumbrian coastline is a super area to visit with spectacular scenery and an abundance of areas and places of interest to see and photograph. From Saltwick Bay with its old wreck and fossils, to the imposing castles of Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh, along with the Holy Isle (Lindesfarne) there was a never ending supply of photo opportunities. It is an area I will visit again, as a weekend is just not enough time to capture even half of the images the area can offer.

Leigh and David McMaster

Another great wedding shoot today when Leigh and David were married at Pollokshields Burgh Hall. The sun was out and we had great fun capturing their special day, what a fantastic couple and wedding party, we were delighted to have been part of it and wish them all the best for their future.

Sad loss

Landscape photographers all over the world will be mourning the sad loss of the 'Wee Tree' that grew alone, on a small islet in Lochan-na-achlaise on Rannoch Moor. The tree which is probably the most photographed tree in Scotland was the victim of high winds and will be missed by all who visited it. I was lucky enough to have visited it in December 2009 and always planned to return but alas I never made it.

What will the many photographers who make the journey to Rannoch moor to see it do now? Perhaps another 'Wee Tree' could be planted in its place, sure it wont be the same but a new 'Wee Tree' would eventually be just as famous and would be photographed just as often.

Here is one of my images of the tree from December 2009.

SPF Scottish Salon

Just found out the results of the Scottish Photographic Federation portfolio competition today and was delighted to see that two of my prints (shown below) were accepted by the SPF into the Scottish Salon.

The acceptances were for 'Hannah - Almost Ready' and 'Turnberry reflections' as well as being a way of getting my pictures seen by others, it is also pleasing to know that other people like my work and the images I produce.
